Climate Finance

Visualising the Urgency of
Climate Finance

To support ODI at COP29, we produced a visually engaging animation spotlighting the urgent global need for adaptation finance in developing countries. Combining illustration, motion design, and animated data visualisation, the animation breaks down complex funding barriers and advocates for streamlined, scalable climate finance solutions to address the $387 billion annual shortfall and accelerate equitable, community-driven climate resilience.

An illustration of a woman in a red headscarf carrying a bucket through cracked, dry soil in a drought-stricken landscape, beneath an intense, blazing sun.
An illustration of two people walking arm-in-arm through knee-high muddy floodwaters, each carrying bags and supporting one another during a storm.
An illustration of a rural community meeting under a green shelter, with men and women seated and two facilitators at the front, set against a backdrop of trees and distant village homes.

Making Climate Finance Clear and Compelling

To simplify complex finance topics, we used illustrated storytelling and animated data visualisations to reveal funding gaps and showcase real-world challenges. The animation highlights community-led solutions, including rural initiatives in India, and promotes fair, transparent, and needs-based adaptation finance. Through engaging visuals and storytelling, it reinforces ODI’s goal of placing vulnerable communities at the centre of global climate action.
