Visualising a New Era of Global Trade

The Global Trade Analysis Project explores a new phase of globalisation, shaped by rising geopolitical risks, climate change, and rapid technological change.

They approached us to create an infographic animation that would clearly communicate The Economist’s future economic strategy. The animation needed to use a strong visual analogy to help explain the complex shifts in global trade, supply chains, and regionalisation in an accessible and memorable way for a wide audience.

Visualising Global Trade

We created an infographic animation for the Economist using a Jenga-inspired visual metaphor to illustrate shifts in global trade and supply chains. Shipping containers symbolised the balance between global and regional trade structures. Additional visuals of infrastructure and technology highlighted trade barriers and emerging challenges. The result is a clear, accessible animation that simplifies complex economic ideas and supports the Economist’s vision for the future of globalisation.
