Online Safety, in Their Own Words A film for Childnet

Childnet is a UK charity helping children, young people and their communities stay safe—and thrive—online. This project put young voices front and centre.

Through honest, on-camera interviews, we captured children’s real thoughts and experiences around screen time, digital wellbeing and internet safety. The result? A film that offers practical, peer-led advice for parents, carers and educators—told directly by the people it matters to most.

Filming with Honesty—and Intention

Capturing authentic youth voices was at the heart of this Childnet project. These weren’t actors—they were real children, speaking from experience—so we focused on making the set feel relaxed, safe and open.

Filming in a working school meant embracing a little imperfection. When a powerful answer came with classroom noise in the background, we kept it. Because truth matters more than polish.

To create a setting that felt warm and relevant to the topic of online safety, we transformed a dance studio into a soft, welcoming space—purpose-built for honest conversations with a young audience in mind.
