Raising Awareness of Stranded Asset Risk in the Gas Sector

The Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis (IEEFA) monitors global energy trends and policies. As companies increasingly align with the Paris Agreement, gas demand is declining, raising the risk of stranded assets for investors and governments. To support IEEFA’s mission of accelerating a sustainable and diverse energy transition, we were asked to produce an animation that clearly communicates these findings and encourages financial decision-makers to reconsider continued investment in gas.

Blending Film and Animation to Deliver an Urgent Financial Message

To create a strong connection with the audience, we combined filmed interview footage with animated elements. Filming on location in Sydney, we used a teleprompter to allow the speaker to speak directly to camera, ensuring clarity and authenticity without the need for cuts or multiple angles. Animation was integrated to explain complex data and trends, visually reinforcing IEEFA’s findings and highlighting the risks of continued investment in gas.
