What is Unconscious Bias?

Tackling Unconscious Bias in Education

Changing Faces, a leading UK charity supporting people with visible differences, approached us to help raise awareness of unconscious bias in schools.

Many children with visible differences experience discrimination in the classroom and often underachieve as a result. Changing Faces wanted an animation that would explain what unconscious bias is, how it shows up in school settings, and why greater awareness among teachers is key to creating fairer, more inclusive learning environments.

Creating Inclusive Classrooms Through Awareness

We created an animation for Changing Faces to help teachers recognise unconscious bias and its impact on students with visible differences. Aimed at school staff, the film explains how bias can shape classroom behaviour and contribute to exclusion or underachievement. Through relatable examples, it encourages more inclusive teaching and helps create safe, respectful learning environments where all children feel seen, supported and free from discrimination or bullying.
